Volcano Roll

Another wasted day…

Last Saturday, I finally carved out some alone time. I was going to work on my E-book, learn how to use Pinterest, do something…anything, that would bring me closer to my dreams. At that point the words of Shia Saide LaBeouf popped in my head “Yesterday, you said tomorrow…so just do it!”…haha (Go check out the video here, it’s hilarious).

Anyways, I got on my computer and proceeded to go on a Youtube Marathon. I started with Pinterest advice, strayed off to vines, then Master Chef reruns and eventually ended up on top tips to end procrastination. Needless to say, I needed to get my act together and focus.

But before I can, I needed to do a full clean of the house…because…well, I can’t focus until…

  • My books are organized in a manner that corresponds with the Dewey Decimal System and …
  • Every plate and silverware is stacked the way a champion Tetris player would and…
  • I check through every piece of food to make sure it hasn’t expired.

Moment of honesty, I didn’t do any of the above. I procrastinated on the tasks that I was using to procrastinate and procrastinated on writing this post about my stint of procrastination. Agh, sooo confusing.

I’m blabbing on about useless stuff now. What happened was, I started to clean the house and found my blow torch (I haven’t seen this thing since my Chocolate Strawberry Creme Brulee recipe). The urge to set something on fire overwhelmed me. To be clear, the urge was not in a “serial killer that favored arson” kind of way but more of a “I’m craving s’mores” feeling. I didn’t have marshmallows but I did have sushi stuff…

This roll is your basic California Roll (crab, cucumber, and avocado) but in volcano form thus the name “Volcano Roll” (that’s the best I can do for the name…my creativity is very limited to food and food only). Veggie rolls are stacked and topped with a spicy crab salad then generously drowned with masago, toasted panko, scallions and sriracha…then TORCHED for an added smokey flavor (what is a volcano without a bit of fire?).

This Volcano Roll was birth by my troubles with procrastination but also represents it very well. If you think about it, volcanoes procrastinate more than we ever can. They have so much potential…

All corny jokes aside, this roll is very traditional and can be found in most Americanized Japanese restaurants, for a more non traditional recipe check out my Volcano”Sushi” Fries. That is something you definitely don’t want to wait on.
